The system and its medical group will no longer be in network with UnitedHealthcare’s commercial and Medicare Advantage plans after May 30, 2025, citing challenges around processing claims and prior authorization requests.

Carson City is the capital of Nevada, and UnitedHealthcare administers the state’s employee health plan.

“We appreciate your patience as we navigate this challenging situation,” the system wrote on its website. “Please know we are holding every hope that we can find a sustainable path forward, together.”

“Our goal is to utilize the more than nine months remaining on our contract to engage in good-faith negotiation in an effort to renew our relationship so the people we serve have long-term access to Carson Tahoe Health,” a UnitedHealthcare spokesperson told the Record-Courier. “We hope they share our commitment toward reaching an agreement.”
