NewYork-Presbyterian, Aetna reach deal

New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian has reached a deal with insurer Aetna after weeks of negotiations.

The agreement, which had to be reached by March 31, ensures that NewYork-Presbyterian's hospitals, clinics and physicians will remain in Aetna's network.

"We understand the last few weeks of this negotiation may have created frustration and uncertainty. We thank you for your support during this time and for trusting us with your care," the health system wrote in an update on its site.

This comes after NewYork-Presbyterian accused Aetna of presenting unreasonable offers, and after Aetna alleged that the sides were "far apart on terms" because the system demanded "significant increases in reimbursement rates that are unsustainable and will materially raise costs."
