Blue Shield of California has appointed two new senior executives.
The insurer named Lois Quam as president, and Susan Mullaney as executive vice president of strategic initiatives, according to a May 17 news release. Both will report to Blue Shield of California CEO Paul Markovich.
Ms. Quam was most recently CEO of Pathfinder, a global reproductive health organization. She previously held roles at the Nature Conservancy and the State Department, according to her LinkedIn profile. She spent 17 years at UnitedHealth Group, including as a senior executive leading its federal and state government business.
Ms. Mullaney was most recently a senior advisor at Boston Consulting Group and served as president of Kaiser Permanente Washington from 2016 to 2022, according to her LinkedIn profile.
