Top Humana exec departs after 3 decades

Humana's chief corporate affairs officer, William Fleming, PharmD, is leaving the company after a 30-year tenure.

Dr. Fleming first joined the company in 1994 as director of clinical pharmacy operations. Throughout his career he served in positions such as president of pharmacy, president of healthcare services, and president of pharmacy solutions.

"As I concluded that now was the time to 'retire', I became incredibly reflective about 3 things: the patient, our people, Humana," he wrote on LinkedIn on July 16. "We made the patient the priority in our work and pursued things to transform patient and provider experiences."

"My favorite thing I’ve heard so many talk about is the impact that I had on their careers (and their families). Those are the things that matter. One of my favorite expressions is…as iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. That's what it's all about. Leaving it better than we found it!"
