Centene reported $713 million in net income in the third quarter, per its earnings report published Oct. 25.
Total revenues in the third quarter were $42 billion, up 10.5% year over year.
Total net earnings in the third quarter were $713 million, up 52% since the same period last year.
The company reaffirmed its year-end adjusted EPS guidance of greater than $6.80.
The company's medical loss ratio was 89.2% in the third quarter and 87% during the same period last year. Days claims payable were 51 in the third quarter, compared to 53 a year ago.
As of Sept. 30, Centene's total membership stands at more than 28.6 million. Medicaid membership has fallen to 13.1 million, decreasing 14.2% year over year. There are 4.5 million exchange members, 426,000 commercial group members, 1.1 million Medicare Advantage and supplement members, and 6.8 million Medicare prescription drug plans.
