The payer said Oct. 27 its plans will be available in Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington state.
The expansion follows a period that began in 2016 where the company nearly abandoned selling ACA plans after steep losses. In 2016, United sold plans on 33 state exchanges, which fell to two states by 2018.
