Cigna launching digital health platform with Virgin Pulse

Cigna is partnering with Virgin Pulse on an individualized digital health platform for 11 million members.

According to an Aug. 10 news release, the platform uses AI technology and behavioral science to allow members to track their mental, physical and social health. Customers can log their exercise, weight, time slept and more, or track these through a wearable like an Apple Watch. Users can share progress with friends and family, and the myCigna platform can connect members to relevant programs available through their health benefits.

"Digital health programs improve health outcomes and enhance vitality for individuals and their communities," Heather Dlugolenski, senior vice president of commercial strategy and solutions at Cigna Healthcare, said in the release. "For employers, investing in employee well-being directly translates into a more productive workforce and a thriving business."

The program will be available Jan. 1 for some members with employer-sponsored coverage and will expand over time.
