Cigna was the top healthcare company, and ranked 16 overall, in Just Capital and CNBC’s ranking of the top 1,000 publicly traded U.S companies published Jan. 10.
Three payers — Cigna, Elevance Health and Humana — were listed in the top 100.
The list scores companies on several different social responsibility categories, including supporting workers, communities, customers, shared governance and environment.
Here’s how payers stacked up:
- Cigna: No. 1 in healthcare, No. 16 overall
- Elevance Health: No. 2 in healthcare, No. 30 overall
- Humana: No. 3 in healthcare, No. 43 overall
- UnitedHealth Group: No. 4 in healthcare, No. 102 overall
- Centene: No. 6 in healthcare, No. 352 overall
- Molina Healthcare: No. 15 in healthcare, No. 758 overall.
- CVS Health, parent company of Aetna, was listed in the food and drug retailer category. The company ranked first in its category and 120th overall.
